I Hope

By Emma Hadlock

I hope you find all that you're looking for

and the long dark nights don't keep you up

I hope that you find comfort in less and more

and that you no longer seek to fill your cup

I hope you don't look for me in crowded rooms

and in old mossy graves all you see is life

give and take, pattering away like a stray loom

all your love and strength taken in strife

you won't feel this forever

take comfort in that fact

that all this is fleeting

and you are a crack

in a star, up in the sky keeping

the squirrels under the shack

company in the quiet nights of weeping
