Professor Cohen's Farewell

Dear Corning Community,
I am writing this letter on the last day of our spring semester in the hopes that everyone has had
a lovely summer and is eagerly returning to begin with the new possibilities of Fall. Although I will
not be there to share these moments with you, I wanted to take the time to thank each and
everyone of you. Yes, even the incoming students who I will never meet. My 1020 students
wrote a few pieces of advice in their own article, which I am sending along with this to all of you.
I hope that their voices are well received. Remember our voices are a unique and powerful
thing. AI may be cool and some of you may be tempted this year, especially when faced with a
wordy project or essay, but remember to use your voice. Share your words. Show off your
critical thinking skills. Remember you can choose to have a voice or be a voice. Choose wisely.
Kindly,
Professor Lisa Marie Cohen
