Way back in ’91, I was born in Germany but from 1992 to only recently I have spent most of my life in North Carolina. I graduated from North Iredell High School in 2010 and briefly attended Norwich University: Military College of Vermont as a cadet, as well as a cadet in the Air Force ROTC program. It was there I worked at the school museum and volunteered as a photographer for the school newspaper. Unfortunately, my first stint in college did not go as well as I had hoped. To make matters worse, I could not enlist in the military due to some hearing issues.
Fast forward to October of 2020 I met my now wife on a Catholic-based dating website, moved to Corning, NY in January 2022, and then married November 5th, 2022. To prove that I was worth marrying I decided that I would try to get a bachelor’s degree from Aspen University in business administration. That, however, was taking far too long to complete so in December of 2023 I rushed my application to CCC and now I am here in my second semester! I’m currently pursuing two associate degrees. One in Mechatronics and the other the Directed Studies.
Since I could not join our military most of my professional career has been in the hospitality industry, particularly in fine dining and wine. I am an Introductory Sommelier in the Court of Master Sommelier, WSET II Award in Wines certified, and a Certified Cider Guide. I have had the privilege to work with several professional sommeliers, including a Master Somm right here in Corning. I would love to be a Certified Sommelier and WSET III certified, but I am now turning my attention towards paramedicine. My current career goals are successfully completing the EMT-B course I am taking in Watkins Glen and to take the Paramedic courses that are in currently development (thus the Directed Studies degree). My dream is to become a Flight Paramedic, preferably here in the Finger Lakes region.
I am also a practicing traditional Catholic. Faith means everything to me. My family and I attend St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Binghamton, I am a professed member of both The Knights of Our Lady: Observance of the Holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and the Holy Name Society. All my actions, my social and political beliefs, even my hobbies, are for the glory of Christ the King.
My interests and hobbies include my Catholic faith, wine (or really any alcoholic beverage), coffee, chocolate, Rush (the Canadian rock band), Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, Medieval history, chivalry, paramedicine, fine dining/etiquette, Brazilian ju-jitsu, and golf.
I am most certainly proud to be the President and Editor-in-Chief of The Crier Newspaper. It is challenging but highly rewarding. The reward is that I feel like I am contributing something significant to Corning Community College. I hope you all enjoy what we produce!
